Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Baskets – New Dorp Moravian Church

Every fall, New Dorp Moravian Church coordinates the collection of a variety of food items to be placed into Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Baskets. Food donations of everything holiday related are assembled, and delivered, to help make Thanksgiving and Christmas a special time for families in need.

Monetary donations toward the Baskets also greatly appreciated.

Last year, we again filled over 100 baskets for others in need. We primarily assist families who’s names have been provided. This year we hope to update and expand our list of families who are in need. If you know anyone who is food insecure, please call the church office with names, addresses, and contact information.

Many thanks to everyone for your generous donations to this worthy ministry of our Church.

Prayer Shawls – Great Kills Moravian Church

Members of our prayer shawl ministry knit and crochet prayer shawls for persons going through times of sickness, crisis and transition. To date, more than 200 prayer shawls have been lovingly made and distributed. For more information about helping to make shawls or about receiving a shawl, contact Great Kills Moravian Church.

Moravian Community Dinners – Vanderbilt Avenue Moravian Church

The third Saturday of every month, a free community dinner is served from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at Vanderbilt Avenue Moravian Church. In addition to sharing a meal together, all those who come to eat can choose a free book or two to take home from a library of donated books. Members of all four Moravian churches participate in cooking, serving, and eating together in community with our visitors. For more information, contact Vanderbilt Avenue Moravian Church.
