Renovations: 2009
The Completion of a Vision and a Dream

New sanctuary shot - altar
In September of 2008, general construction began on a long-anticipated, much talked about project. Through the years there had been concern for the organ (which was in need of substantial work), handicap access and restrooms, child care areas, outdated equipment, accoustics and more. Jacobson Contracting, our General Contractor, was been busy from September 15, 2008 to February 2009, guiding plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters and more, moving us through our renovation project. After four months of construction, we were able to host a wedding on January 30, and we held our first services back in the Sanctuary on Sunday, February 8, 2009.
Our thanks to Daniel Krief, our architecht during the construction phase of our project, and to Jacobson Contracting and their subcontractors for their excellent workmanship. Our thanks as well, to the Organ/Sanctuary Committee Chair, Frank Taverna, and to all those who were part of the committee. It all looks and sounds amazing.
The Sanctuary and Organ Dedication Service was on March 29, 2009. The first of many organ concerts to come was held on Sunday, May 17, 2009. Performing at the concert were be John Peragallo, of the Peragallo Organ Builders who built our organ; and our former director of music, James Dennis.

The Sanctuary Renewal Project
The pictures almost say it all, as the picture to the left was the day when Frank Peragallo and Pastor Duane removed the first pipes from the old organ pipe chambers, and the picture to the right was the day when Frank Taverna, our Committee Chairman, and Frank Peragallo installed the last organ pipe, completing the installation during our Dedication Service on March 29. Our thanks to all who helped make this project possible. One person we espcially want to remember is Edith Buttehorn. Her love for her Lord and her church were reflected in the genererous bequest that started the dream in the first place, and allowed this project to become reality. |
