Moravians in Mission at Our Sister Moravian Churches
Staten Island Moravians work together on a variety of projects -- called Moravians in Mission -- to meet practical needs we see in the world around us. These projects are coordinated by one of the Moravian congregations on Staten Island, but draw upon. and welcome energetic volunteers from all four Moravian churches as well as non-Moravians, individuals and groups to participate in any or all of these mission projects.

Thanksgiving Holiday Baskets
|
|
Every fall, New Dorp Moravian Church coordinates the collection of a variety of food items to be placed into a Thanksgiving Holiday Basket. Food donations of everything from cranberry sauce to frozen turkeys are assembled and delivered to help make Thanksgiving a special time for families in need.
In 2007, more than 80 complete Thanksgiving Dinners were distributed. This year we delivered more than 90 complete dinners. Thank you for all your help and donations. Look back again next September, as we start planning for Thanksgiving 2013. |
Last year we filled over 80 baskets for others in need. We primarily assist families who's names have been provided by local congregations, the YMCA, Project Hospitality and other agencies. Many thanks to everyone for your generous donations to this worthy ministry of our Church. We would always like to do more. If you would like to participate, in autumn, you are asked to bring weekly donations to one of the Moravian Churches & place them in the collection boxes provided.
